He has been working in Dubai since 1994 as Senior Architect at Al Gurg Group & M/s Rice Perry Ellis. From 2003, he has set up own practice. In his long career spanning over twenty years, he has visualized, conceptualized and designed numerous commercial, hospitality, leisure and residential developments, many of which represent the first phase of Dubai’s new avatar. A stint from 2001 to 2003 at M/s Rice Perry Ellis marked a big shift in the scale of projects to larger, mixed use urban planning developments, in sync with the bigger growth strides the City was making. Then in 2004, he was the lead architect of the City of Arabia (a part of Dubailand, the US$ 64 billion amusement park complex, the biggest in the world), a much acclaimed scheme for a mega scale, multi-use development in the heart of the new Dubai. He was appointed Director of Projects of I. M. Gadkari Group, a position, which involved the entire gamut of Project Management, Client Representation, Design, Control and Execution. Along the way, Alex has been invited to take up various special design assignments for VIP clients of the region, some of which are The Designer Bay: A cluster of eight 80-storeyed towers, each one an architectural interpretation of uber-luxury brands such as Gucci. Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc. and The G Tower: An iconic 50-storeyed tower with several never before features and Philippe Starck collaborating with the interiors.
